The Texoma Fire Dept. received leftover military trucks that were slow and there was also a problem getting parts. So, the TFD Volunteers decided to build their own brush truck to meet the water and reliability needs of the district.
It was built in the backyard of one of the members and was such a success that more were built to provide for the ever-increasing need. In 1991, L.V. Little donated land at Washita Point for another fire station that would house a couple fire trucks, a brush truck and a tanker. The building was completed in 1992.
In 1996, TFD was given the opportunity to lease property from Marshall County for a building in McBride to house a couple of trucks, a deuce-and-ahalf tanker (large military truck) and a brush truck. With the district having only a few fire hydrants, the need for water was great.
In 2005, a Freightliner truck chassis was purchased and with a 4000-gallon tank the volunteers built a tanker. This was such a success that a second one was built in 2008
