The Redskins competed in the Dale Tournament December 9, 10 and 11. It is unknown why Dale entered a JV team in their own tourney, but we will take it. Redskins won, final score, 74 to 31.
In the first quarter, the Redskins were shooting well. Reid Cason had two buckets, Jahiem Nash had two buckets. Braden Matchen had two buckets. Brady Brister had a bucket and was 2 of 2 from the line. Cole Morgan had two points. The score after one quarter was 18 to 0.
As the second quarter started, Coach Taylor Wiebener was well into his reserve players. DrewAnderson was 2 of 2 from the line. Gage Gill hit a nice threepointer. Nash was taking advantage ofhis minutes and had two buckets, Matchen and Cason both had field goals. The score at the half, 31 to 8.
Matchen came alive in the third with four field goals. They were all in the paint. Mason Burkhalter had two field goals. Cason had two more field goals. Dakota Wiebener had a three-pointer and Brister added a field goal. Another good effort offensively. After three quarters, the score was 52 to 20.
As mentioned earlier, Nash was the star of the fourth. He had three goals and was 2 of 3 from the line. Brycen Ward had a nice three and a two-point bucket. Anderson had two field goals and a three-point goal. Hayden McKinney had a bucket. The 22-point quarter, all from the bench, was the best of the game. Final score, Redskins 74 to Dale JV 31.
Box Score: Nash lead the team with 16 points. He was followed by Matchen with 14. Cason had 11, Anderson with seven. Brister had six, Ward with five, Burkhalter for four, Wiebener had three, McKinney and Morgan each with two. The team free throw shooting was 6 of 8 for 75%.
