The Lady Redskins traveled to Marietta on January 12, 2021 to take on the Lady Indians. It was a close game early on but Coach Chad Rumer and his team came away with a 57 to 38 victory.
The game did not start on a good note. Barely a minute and a half into the game, Avri Weeks was benched with two quick fouls. Thankfully, Ryan Herndon was off to a fast start as she has recently been doing.
She hit two three pointers and was 2 of 2 from the line. Kamry Bohannon was off to a good start, as well. She had a three-pointer and would go on to score in all four quarters. Emi O’Steen and Ethel Stewart each had baskets. The Lady Redskins found themselves trailing at the end of the first quarter 17 to 15.
In the second quarter, two things happened; Weeks got back into the game and the defense tightened up. In fact, the Lady Indians only managed one field goal. Weeks got busy and hit three buckets, Herndon, Raegan Davis, and Kaya Weibner all had field goals.
Bohannon was 2 of 2 from the free throw line. Going into intermission, the Lady Redskins went to the locker room with a 10-point lead, 29 to 19.
The third quarter was a little rough for Weeks. She made it to the 6:30 mark before picking up foul number three. However, she had already scored a goal. Back to the bench she went. Stewart did well as her relief. Bohannon, O’Steen and Stewart all had field goals. Lady Redskins lead was 11, 37 to 26.
Fourth quarter was off to the races. Tired of the bench, Weeks came alive and was scoring in quite a bit. She had four field goals and was 5 of 6 from the line. Bohannon had a field goal but was doing damage from the free throw line as well. She was 3 of 4. Herndon added another field goal to her total. The Ladies coasted to a 57 to 38 victory.
