America at a Crossroads

What is happening in this country we love so much? In the 1800s and the 1900s, it was “constitutional” to teach the bible, pray or put nativity scenes in the public schools, but by 2000, you couldn’t even post copies of the Ten Commandments in the classroom. What changed? Did the constitution change? Do today’s Supreme Court justices have greater insight into what our nation’s founders meant to convey? No, what has changed is that we have allowed the atheist, the infidels and secular humanists to seize control of our country’s political system and to pervert our constitution into something the founders never intended. We have got to say “enough.” Our founders were clear in the First Amendment. They said, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” Our forefathers came from a country where there was a state church, and the people were coerced to worship in churches they didn’t want to be in and that was wrong. Our forefathers said, “we want no part of that.” The First Amendment has nothing to say about nativity scenes, prayers at graduations, athletic events or Ten Commandments displays. The First Amendment allows and “welcomes” people of all faiths or of no faith, but the fact is, America was founded as a Christian nation. In our America today, when we elect government of ficials, we are determining the moral and spiritual direction of our country. We have the privilege of choosing our leaders. Every time we go into the voting booth, we determine the direction of our nation, its economy, health care, taxes, our personal security and liberties. In Biblical times, people didn’t get to vote for the King. People didn’t get to vote for the emperor, that was a given for them. But John Jay, the First Chief Justice of our United States Supreme Court said, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.” Isn’t that interesting the First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court said this? This week, we will see the nomination of another Supreme Court Justice confirmed. Any Coney Barrett, imminently qualified, this woman challenges the nation that a “coney” may be a soft, fluffy bunny rabbit and may more closely resemble a tenacious, determined rock badger. Imagine God blessing America again or Psalms 21:v.13, “Be exalted ‘O Lord’ in your own strength. We will sing and praise your power,” or will we have chosen pride and indulgence as opposed to God’s righteousness and mercy? We’re about to choose. Vote!
