The home crowd made quite a bit of noise when their Tecumseh Savages outscored the visiting Madill Wildcats 39-27 in the second half to post a 67-53 win to bring home the District trophy.

Madill was riding an eightgame winning streak going into the game and felt that it would be a close game.

This loss dropped their season record to 18-6 and put the Wildcats into the consolation bracket of the Regional Tournament.

It was a tight first half with Tecumseh holding a 28-26 lead at the half.

Madill was playing decent defense in the first half, but things went bad in the first two minutes of the second half as Tecumseh went on a quick 9-3 run. The Tecumseh team got the advantage of some questionable calls and there was a technical foul called on Madill Head Coach Brett Weiberg, with 3:17 left in the third quarter for his objecting the calls. Tecumseh finished the third quarter on an 8-4 run giving them a 50-41 lead.

Madill answered a 10-0 Tecumseh run with their own 8-0 run but ran out of steam in the final two and one-half minutes of the game.

Tecumseh outsized the scrappy Madill team and definitely held a rebounding edge.

Miguel Duran scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Wildcats followed by Ezekiel Fuentes with 10 points and Wyatt Gray with eight and Asa Robertson scored seven points.

Madill will play next Thursday, Feb. 27 at 3:00 p.m. against Pauls Valley in Newcastle. Earlier this season, in the Atoka Tournament, Madill beat Pauls Valley 56-50.
