Chili Cookoff brings flavor, fun and scholarships to Kingston

It is time to pull out the secret family recipe and get ready for a flavorful day of friendly competition. The KingstonHighSchoolAlumni Association will host its annual Meat Market Chili Cookoff andAuctiononSaturday, Oct. 3, at Cottonwood and A Street in the Caney Creek lake area of Kingston.

Anyone who believes their chili has what it takes may enter the cookoff. Contestants should arrive at 9 a.m. and make a $20 donation to compete. The event usually continues until about 2 p.m.

Hungry visitors can purchase a $5 sample cup and taste the delicious entries. It is an affordable way to enjoy plenty of chili while helping Kingstonstudentsreachtheir dreams.

The fun will continue with a lively auction. People and businesses may donate auction items through the day of the event. A creative gift, useful service, or special item could help bring in even more money for scholarships.

Thecookoffandauctionare more than a tasty fall gathering. All proceeds go toward scholarships for Kingston students. During the past five years, the Kingston High School Alumni Association has awarded approximately $40,000 in scholarships.

The association dates back to 1911 and has a long, proud history of supporting Kingstonstudents.Thislively annual gathering gives former students, local families, and community members a chance to visit, laugh, enjoy good food, and work together for a worthy cause.
