Job seekers across Marshall County and surrounding communities will have an opportunity to meet faceto- face with employers from a wide range of industries during an upcoming Marshall County Job Fair and Resource Event in Madill. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the OSU ExtensionCenter,11545U.S. Highway 70 in Madill.
The event is being organized through a partnership involving the Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, Southern Workforce Board, Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services and the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission. The growing list of registered employers andworkforceorganizations represents industries ranging from manufacturing and banking to health care, hospitality, food distribution, caregiving, government and military service.
Among those registered to participate are OESC, Renewal by Andersen/Esler Companies, Big Tex, Banc-First, The Chickasaw Nation- WinStar, Work Ready Oklahoma-Ardmore, New Vision Manufacturing LLC, Choctaw Nation, Express Employment Professionals, Dot Foods, Pronto! Staffing, Oklahoma Complete Health, Malone Solutions, WinStar Hotel/Winston Hospitality, CornerStone Caregiving, OKDRS,ChickasawEmployment Access, the U.S. Army, MP ONE GROUP LLC, Fayman & Sorbello Food Group, Super C Mart, Precision Cleaning Services LLC, Visiting Angels of Southeast Oklahoma, Texas Juvenile Justice Department and Brookside Nursing Center. Organizers say additional employersandresourcesmay be added before the event.
For Marshall County residents, the event provides an opportunity to explore jobs without having to travel outside the area to meet potential employers. It also gives local businesses and regional employers access to workers from Marshall County and nearby communities.
The variety of participating organizations means job seekers may find opportunities ranging from entry-level positions and skilled trades to health care, financial services, manufacturing, hospitality, food service, caregiving and public-sector careers. The event also comes as workforce development agencies continue to provide resources beyond simply connecting applicants with employers. OESC offers job seekers services including career guidance, job-search assistance, referrals, jobreadiness preparation, training and apprenticeship information, as well as veteran employment services.
For employers, OESC provides recruitment assistance, applicant screening and support for hiring events, along with workforce programs designed to help businesses find and retain employees. The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce has made workforce development and economic growth part of its broader effort to connect local businesses, organizations and community leaders.
The Chamber recently marked its first anniversary and said its work during its first year included building partnerships among businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, government agencies and community leaders. The hiring event offers a practical extension of that mission by putting employers and potential employees in the same room.
