Madill’s high school cross country teams each placed fifth in the team standings at the East Central University Invitational last Saturday in Ada.
The Wildcats notched one medalist in the ultra-tough competition as sophomore Jayden Barbosa crossed the stripe in 17 minutes, 49.51 seconds in placing 12th individually.
Alex Gonzalez added an 18th for Madill boys with a time of 18:42.69, Blane Hawthorne was just behind in 20th at 18:58.38 with Dylan Serrano claiming 22nd in 19:01.88. Xavier Quintanilla added a 49th place mark of 20:25.57, Gael Gallegos was 51st in 20:33.52 and Lorenzo Vasquez tallied a 60th at 21:00.13.
Other placers for the Madill boys included Alex Orta, 67th (21:18.40); Saul Martinez, 68th (21:27.49); Brayden Carnes, 74th (21:59.79); Dayton Gimenez,75th(22:01.65); Neymar Camacho, 80th (22:18.49)PabloMontes,81st (22:19.40); Akzel Fernandez, 83rd (22:27.28); Azaeel Rivera, 93rd (23:24.59); and Vincent Acquaviva (23:40.34).
Leading the charge for the Lady Wildcats was freshman Davanara Martinez-Valenciano as she notched a 25th place effort of 14 minutes, 47.52 seconds on the girls’ course.
Isabell Stuckey was 27th clocking in at 14:55.97, Jayleen Vasquez took 30th in 15:06.45, Katelyn Acquaviva placed 40th with a mark of 15:44.18, Jeylah Cabrales was just behind in 41st at 15:51.06, Klarivel Aldava added a 56th in 16:50.90 and Chloe Williams checked in 58th clocking in with a 16:54.84.
AlsofortheLadyWildcats, Zamira Mata finished 65th (17:52.93); Hadon Stuckey, 69th (18:35.38); and Bryssa Reyes, 70th (18:47.37).
In the junior high division, the Madill girls had a solid second place team finish only behind Plainview withCatalinaValadeztaking fifth individually at 9:41.35 whileEllieCabralescaptured sixth in 9:50.69. Lady Wildcat medalists also included Sammy Brown in 13th with at 10:20.86, Aubrey Martens took 14th in 10:21.04 and Hazel Douglas ended 15th at 10:26.54.
