TFD: Signs of overheating

Fatigue occurs when your body struggles to regulate temperature due to excessive heat or lack of fluids. Symptoms to watch out for include, extreme weakness, fatigue, dizziness, headache, heavy sweating, rapid heartbeat, intense thirst and nausea.

Your skin will get pale, clammy or flushed. Take immediate action and move to cooler area preferably with A/C, if not move to heavily shaded area.

Cool down the body by applying a cool wet cloth or takeacoolshower.Siponcold water or sports drink high in electrolytes.

It is important to know whentoseekemergencycare. Heat Fatigue can rapidly progress into heat stroke.

Symptoms are confusion, slurred speech or an altered mental status. A body temperature of 104'F, hot, excessively red skin or dry skin are all signs to seek professional help.

Also, if you are not sweating even while over heating, have seizures or experience loss of comciousness, please call 911 immediately.

Even though many people know this, it never hurts to remind everyone. We here at the Auxiliary want everyone to have a happy and safe summer.

Ladies, the next Auxiliary meeting will be Monday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m., with fellowship at 1 p.m. prior to the meeting. Anyone who would like to join the Auxiliary please join the next meeting.

The exercise/stretching classes are every Monday andWednesdayat10:00a.m. Card games are held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 12:00 p.m.

The cost is $75 per day and can only be rented by members of the Fire District. The building capacity is 158.
