A solid campaign by the Madill Wildcats soccer team came to an end with a 3-0 loss at Newcastle in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs last week.
Newcastlegotontheboard with a free kick goal in the 20th minute of the opening half, but that proved to be the only tally before intermission thankstosixsavesfromWildcat goal keeper Christopher Narvaez. Madill’s offense was held in check, notching just four shots on goal prior to the break.
Following the half, the Racers added a goal on a crossing shot in the 67th minute and another tally five minutes later.
Madill had four shots on goal in the second half but could never find the back of the net.
Coach Jose Cortes’ club finishes up with a 5-7 overall record.
