Kingston girls claimed the Class 3A regional track championship in dominant fashion while the Redskins fell just a half point short of dual titles last weekend at Alex.
The Lady Redskins outdistanced Silo to take first in the girls team standings while the boys were just half a point behind Casady in the standings. Each qualified numerous runners for this weekend’s state meet at Catoosa.
Kate Ratzlaff took the 300 hurdles title in 45.77 seconds while Daisy Avery was the gold medalist in the 3,200 meters to clock in at 12:06.60 in spurring the top individual finishers.
The Lady Redskins won three of the four relay events with the unit of Cassidy Walker, Kate Ratzlaff, Coby Davis and Vivian Cobbs taking all three top marks. They clocked in at 49.57 seconds in the sprint relay (400 meters), 1:44.97 in the 800 relay and 4:07.27 in the 1,600 relay. Kingston’s 3,200 relay grouping of Daisy Avery, Addie Cole, Avery Ludrick and LaylaThompsonplacedthird in 10:30.44.
Davis added a second in the 100 meters at 12.57 seconds with Walker checking in fourth in 13.06. Cole crossed in third in the 800 at 2:31.83, Thompson added a third in the 3,200 in 12:51.57, Natalie Howell was fourth in the 100 hurdles notching a time of 18.16 seconds while Avery contributed a third in the 1,600 meters in 5:48.61 just ahead of Cole in fourth at 5:55.14.
In field events, Cobbs had a leap of 15 feet, 9 inches in grabbing fourth in the long jump while Cassie McAlister was sixth in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.
On the boys’ side, Jack Hinsley was the regional titlist in the 110 hurdles in 15.06 seconds with Logan Stephens chipping in top honorsinthe200meterswith a time of 22.16 seconds.
The Redskin 800 relay foursome of Koewyn Young, Kelly Gray, Stephens and Hinsley also claimed gold in 1:29.90.
Hinsley narrowly missed being a dual hurdles champ with runner-up honors in the 300 hurdles in 40.5 seconds. Young wrapped up fourth in the 200 meters at 23.24 and JaquinManchacaplacedfifth in the 400 meters in 53.13 seconds.
Kingston picked up big point totals in the other relay events as well, topped by the sprint relay grouping of Young, Hudson Everhart, Gray and Stephens in second as they clocked in at 43.48 seconds.
The 1,600 foursome of Hinsley,Manchaca,Everhart and Stephens was third in 3:25.37 and the 3,200 squad of Jaden Fraize, Christian Davis, Jayden Yates and Logan Thompson also claimed third at 8:45.12.
In field event competition, Dominic Sokolnicki finished third in the discus with a toss of 125 feet, 1 inch as teammate Trace Pruitt checked in sixth with a mark of 109 feet, 7 inches. Sokolnicki was also a team-best fourth in the shot put with a heave of 42 feet, 2.5 inches as Clayton Shipp ended fifth at 40 feet, 3.5 inches and Cody Gravitt sixth at 39 feet, 8.25 inches.
Kasen Barker placed in both the long jump and high jump events. He was fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 10.5 inches and ended fifth in the high jump at 5 feet, 10 inches.
