Allyson Coles
As the school year meets its halfway point, Madill High School would like to celebrate the achievements and aspirations of their seniors. This week, they highlight Allyson Coles, a dedicated and passionate student who has made her mark at Madill Schools.
Allyson Coles, a 12th grader, is the daughter of Alyssa and Frank Coles. She has a supportive family that includes her grandparents, Frank and Madeline Coles, as well as her siblings Alyvia, Bryce, Mason, Kaiser, Darrel, Danika and Erika. Coles has been a part of the Madill community since 5th grade, totaling eight years of growth and learning.
Throughout her high school years, Coles has been actively involved in several activities including the LLC (Leadership Learning Community), Varsity Basketball and serving as the Senior Student Council Treasurer. Her dedication to these roles has allowed her to develop leadership skills and foster strong relationships with her peers.
Looking ahead, Coles said she plans to continue her journey in the beauty field by pursuing a career in cosmetology. Additionally, she is exploring the possibility of playing basketball at the collegiate level, showcasing her commitment to both her passions.
Reflecting on her time at Madill, Coles said she cherishes the moments spent with friends, particularly the times they jokingly declared they were “done with school” yet continued to show up the next day, laughing and navigating the challenges of growing up together.
Her favorite memory from her involvement in band, flag and basketball emphasizes the essence of teamwork. She recalled how these experiences taught her that teamwork often involves a mix of arguments, laughter and ultimately, the ability to come together in unity.
Coles said she extends her heartfelt thanks to her directors for their unwavering support.
“Thank you for always checking on me and believing that my time would come back to my activities. Your support meant everything,” she expressed.
To her parents, she conveys her appreciation for their patience and encouragemen.
“Thank you for dealing with my mood swings, gameday attitude, and everything in between. Y’all are basically superheroes.”
Coles said she credits her coach, Dameesha McCarrol, as a significant inspiration in her life.
“She pushed me to be the best version of myself on and off the court, and I’m grateful for everything she’s helped me become.”
Additionally, Coach Humphery has played a vital role in her basketball journey, supporting her through injuries and moments of self-doubt.
“This season is as much his as it is mine because he never let me quit on myself,” she reflected.
