A pair of Madill Lady Wildcats multi-year starters havebeenselectedtothe4A-4 All-District softball team.
Senior outfielders Brooklyn Pruitt and Laila Pickens were honored by league coaches for the prestigious team despite the youth-laden squad struggling much of the year to a 6-24 overall record.
Pruitt manned the leftfield position and finished with a .289 average at the plate but a strong .481 onbase percentage out of the leadoff position, finding a way on base with a plethora of walks and hit by pitches. She also committed just two errors.
Pickens meanwhile notched a .305 batting average thatincludedahomerun. She was a rock in centerfield with only one error for the season.
“They were both really good players and senior leaders for us all year long,” head coach Shawn Runyan said. “Laila was like our teammomandBrooklynwas a sensational leader. They always gave us everything they had. Brooklyn made some tremendous catches in leftfield and Laila had a great arm and did a really good job runningmanyballsdownand had a strong arm.”
