Lady Redskins claim Cross Country regional title

The Kingston Lady Redskins made the lengthy drive to northwest Oklahoma worth it last week, bringing home the Class 3A Regional Cross Country Championship in dominant fashion.

On the boys’ side, the Redskins placed sixth as a team on the 5,000-meter course at Oklahoma Bible Academy in Enid.

While the girls didn’t take anyofthetopthreeindividual honors in the event, they controlled their way to victory with five runners all placing in the Top 16 over the final standings to edge Jones by 11 points for the overall crown.

Junior Daisy Avery paced the Lady Redskins by clocking a time of 12 minutes, 50.6 seconds over the 3,200-meter course to take fourth individually.

Olivia McAlister led a group of medalists in 11th at 13:52 with Avery Ludrick right behind her in 12th with a mark of 13:53.8. Layla Thompson checked in 14th at 14:00.3 while Addie Cole was 16th in 14:09.9.

Rylee Davis contributed a 32nd place finish in 14:44.7 andAvaRenowas49thclocking in at 16:24.2.

Senior Jayden Frazier sparked the Redskins in a 27th place time of 19:03.7 as Lander Burkhalter was just on his heels in 30th with a 19:21.7 mark.

A trio of Kingston runners followed as Evrett Eason was 32nd in 19:31.7, Cash Wilson claimed 33rd at 19:38.2 and Logan Thompson posted a 19:42.4 for 34th individually. Chet Nix added a 52nd place time of 21:34.2.

The Class 3A State Meet will be held Saturday at North Rock Creek High School in Shawnee.
