A third place team finish by the Madill boys cross country team catapulted the WildcatstotheClass4AState MeetwhiletheLadyWildcats took sixth as a group in the ultra-competitive girls division in the Regional Meet at Waurika.
Byng claimed the boys’ team championship with Sulphur a distant second and Madill just behind in third.
The Wildcats had a pair of individual medalists led by freshman Jayden Barbosa, who was 13th overall in 17 minutes, 33.5 seconds, while seniorJoseCamposwasright on his heels in 14th at 17:37.1.
Ryder Douglas clocked in at 18:03.1 for 23rd overall, Alex Orta added a 25th place mark of 18:10.9, Blane Hawthorne posted an 18:44.1 for 42nd, Gael Gallegos checked in 52nd in 19:36.3 with Aroddy Camacho rounding things out for Madill in 64th at 20:13.3.
Senior Yadira Barbosa was the top individual placer for the Lady Wildcats, crossing the stripe in 12 minutes, 32 seconds for fifth overall.
Katelyn Acquaviva ran to a 45th place mark of 14:36.1 and clocked in just ahead of Isabell Stuckey in 46th at 14:39.7. Caylee Martinez added a 48th place effort of 14:44.7,JayleenVasquezwas 53rd in 15:06.6, Jaylah Cabrales ended 56th at 15:29.1 while Lexington Willis tallied a 61st place mark of 16:22.6.
The Class 4A State Meet will be held Saturday at North Rock Creek High School in Shawnee.
