A 16-2 victory over Ardmore this past week finished off a sweep of the Lady Tigers early in the season and more importantly the first District 4A-4 triumph for the Madill softball team.
The Lady Wildcats were also 14-5 winners over the Lady Tigers but dropped a 12-0 verdict to Ada which dropped them to 1-4 in league action.
In the initial Ardmore triumph, La Taylor twirled a no hitter for Madill but yielded five runs of which only two were earned while also fanning three batters.
Madill trailed 5-2 through two stanzas before erupting for 12 runs in the third inning and ended it on the run rule.
Laila Pickens got the massive uprising started with a triple to right, Tillie Chapa singled and also provided the final big blow with a two-run triple. In between, the Lady Wildcats were aided by six free passes coupled with four Ardmore errors.
Chapa finished with three RBI included with her two hits. Zeplin Thomas, Pickens, Chloe Miller and Emersyn Thomas all had one hit.
It was a one-hit pitching performance by Taylor in the second Madill triumph as she fired three innings in the run rule with four strikeouts and five walks.
The Lady Wildcats came out with a flurry as they plated 10 first inning runs and never looked back for the district win.
Thomas had a pair of hits in the early surge, including a bases loaded double that plated three runs. Pickens belted a two-run homer and KarmaWilliamshadasingle.
Madill took advantage of a plethora of walks in the second frame to push across the final six runs with the only hit coming via a Zeplin Thomas single as she tallied three hits in the contest.
The Lady Wildcats return home next Tuesday to face the Durant JV before competing in the Kingston Tournament.
