Oklahoma farmers have long been known for their generosity, faith and hard work. Now, they have an opportunity to combine all three in a simple yet powerful way: by joining the 10-Acre Challenge.
Through this initiative, producers are encouraged to donatethecropproceedsfrom tenacresoflandtoOklahoma Baptist Homes for Children (OBHC). The funds raised will directly support children and families across OBHC’s ministries—from boys and girls in Child-Focused Care to young moms choosing life and building a better future.
“For those who work the land, giving from the harvest is one of the most personal ways to be a blessing,” said Michael Williams, Executive VicePresidentofOBHC.“The 10-Acre Challenge is about doing something ordinary— planting and harvesting crops—and allowing God to use it in an extraordinary way.”
How It Works
Joining the challenge is simple: 1. Harvest your crop as you normally would.
2. When delivering to the elevator, designate the proceeds from 10 acres (or more) to OBHC.
3. Contact Brent Fox to notify him of your donation. He will call the elevator to coordinate the sale.
4. The elevator sends a check to OBHC, and 100% of the proceeds are used to care for children and share the love of Christ.
You don’t have to write a check or make a pledge. You just give what’s in your bins, and we’ll take care of the paperwork.
Tax Benefits for Donors In addition to making an eternal impact, donors may also benefit financially. By giving grain instead of cash, farmers can potentially reduce their taxable income and avoid selfemployment tax on the value of the grain. Asalways,OBHCencourages donors to consult their tax advisor to determine what is best for their individual situation.
Impact of a Gift
When a farmer joins the 10-Acre Challenge, the results stretch far beyond the field. A single gift can provide:
• Groceries for a young mom raising her child with the help of OBHC staff.
• Counseling for a child healing from trauma.
• Life skills training for teens preparing to age out of foster care.
• And most importantly, opportunities to hear the gospel and experience the love of Christ.
Whether your operation is 80 acres or 8,000, this is a way to give what God has already placed in your hands. Your gift can help change a life.
