Senior Christian Robledo cleared 13 feet to claim the pole vault title to highlight Madill placings in the Class 4A Regional Track Meet hosted by the Wildcats on Saturday.
Just behind Robledo was junior Triston Barnes, who cleared 12 feet, 6 inches in spurring Madill to a fifth place team finish following Plainview, Idabel, Sulphur and Bethany.
The Lady Wildcats meanwhile captured sixth in the ultra-competitive girls’ division but had several state qualifiers.
Leading the charge was Nene Stumblingbear, who took runner-up honors in the high jump as she cleared the bar cleanly at 4 feet, 8 inches. Stalwart Yadira Barbosa posted a time of 11:58.67 in placing third in the 3,200 meters as well as taking fourth in the 1,600 meters at 5:33.06.
Madill had a pair of placers in the 100-meter dash as Joshlynn Clayburn clocked in with a personal best mark of 13.26 seconds for third while teammate Zeplyn Thomas was only a half step behind with a 13.27 for fourth.
Tillie Chapa captured sixth in the 400 meters with a personal best time of 1:03.97.
The Lady Wildcat grouping of Chapa, Thomas, Hadon Stuckey and Clayburn ended third in the 1,600 relay at 4:26.17 and the same foursome teamed for a fourth in the 800 relay in 1:49.66.
Madill’s boys just missed the title in the 3,200 relay with the unit of Ryder Douglas, Gael Gallegos, Jose Campos and James Valadez teaming for a second place mark of 8:22.51.
Valadez chipped in a third in the 3,200-meter run, crossing in 10:33.02 and was also sixth in the 1,600 at 4:44.18 while Campos notched a third place showing of 4:39.09.
Douglas checked in fifth with a personal best time of 2:01.27 in the 800 meters and he was also part of the 1,600 relay group along with Aroddy Camacho, Jaxon Diaz and Jose Menchaca which notched a fifth place mark of 3:31.18.
