Another candidate for the open Town of Kingston Board of Trustees is John Garrison. For five decades, Garrison has called Marshall County home, with 46 of those years spent in the town of Kingston. Both of his sons are Kingston graduates.
He said his deep-rooted connection to the community has shaped his vision for the town’s future. After nearly three decades working at CM Truck Beds, he is ready to take on a leadership role in improving Kingston’s infrastructure, accountability and transparency.
Garrison said he is determined to enhance the overall quality of life in Kingston, starting with infrastructure. One of his primary goals is to ensure that roads are properly maintained, moving away from reliance on gravel and making timely repairs a priority.
Recognizing the town’s growth, he emphasized the importance of planning ahead.
“Kingston is growing, and we need to be ready for it,” he stated. To achieve this, Garrison plans to collaborate with various departments to assess their needs and identify funding opportunities, including grants, to support necessary improvements. A key aspect of Garrison’s platform is increasing accountability within Kingston’s government.
He said he believes that more structured oversight is needed to ensure that town projects are completed efficiently and effectively. Addressing longstanding issues, such as finding a resolution for the town’s traffic light concerns, is high on his agenda. By fostering a culture of responsibility, he said he hopes to create a more reliable and proactive local government.
Transparency and citizen involvement are central to Garrison’s vision for Kingston. He encouraged residents to participate in town meetings, voice their concerns and offer suggestions. Additionally, he proposed making it easier for citizens to engage with local leadership, whether through meetings or by leaving feedback with the town clerk’s office.
“I would love to see more citizens come to the town meetings and voice their concerns or leave suggestions at the town clerk’s office and try to make contact with them,” he shared.
As the election approaches, Garrison said he urges all registered voters to participate and make their voices heard on April 1. He noted that his passion for Kingston’s progress is one of his top concerns, as well, and he remains dedicated to ensuring that the town is prepared for future growth while maintaining a strong sense of community and accountability. Garrison said his focus on infrastructure, transparency and active civic participation will make him an asset to the Board of Trustees, and he aims to lead Kingston toward a brighter and more organized future.
