Lady Cat powerlifters place 5th at Bethel

Madill’s Lady Wildcat powerlifting team had several solid performances in finishing fifth in the large school team standings at the rugged Bethel Girls Powerlifting Meet last week.

The Lady Wildcats finished only behind Sulphur, Miami, Lawton Eisenhower and Choctaw in the 20-team event.

Junior Hannah Rios led the charge for Madill in winning the 181-pound division witha760-poundtotalforher three lifts. She posted a 295 on squat, 165 in the bench and 300 on the deadlift.

Madill had a pair of placers in the heavyweight division with Angie Mendiola claiming third and Jenna Marquez finishing fourth.

Mendiolahada655-pound total that included a 245 on squat, 135 in bench and 275 on the deadlift. Marquez was just behind at 635 total weight as she notched a 225 on squat, 125 in bench and 285 on deadlift.

Two other Lady Wildcats had solid showings with placings at 165 pounds led by Kourtnie Brown’s fourth place showing. She accumulated 545 total pounds with 155 on squat, 105 in bench and 285 on deadlift.

Laila Pickens ended eighth with a 480-pound total, adding a 185 on squat, 90 on bench and 205 in the deadlift.

Dahlia Marris added points in the 150-pound division even though she didn’t place overall with a 410 total weight thanks to a scratch on the squat. Her 115 on bench was the fifth best total in that event for her division with her 295 in deadlift the third best mark there.

Rounding out the scoring for Madill was the 198-pound category as Anali Aldava finished in ninth and Maddie Ritchie in 10th place. Aldava scored a 565 total with 225 on squat, 85 in bench and 255 on deadlift while Ritchie had 555 total pounds that included 190 on squat, 120 in benchand245onthedeadlift.
