A huge second half performance on the road last week rallied the Madill Wildcats to their biggest win of the season by toppling Byng, 54-52, to snap a four-game skid.
The eighth-ranked Lady Wildcats had little trouble in a stifling 45-10 victory over the Byng girls adding to the sweep.
Girls
It was all Madill from the start as the Lady Wildcat defense was on its mark throughout, allowingnomorethanfour points in any quarter.
Coach Eric Holmes’ offensive attack was consistent through each stanza as well, leading 12-3 after one period, 23-5 at the half and 34-6 at the end of three frames.
Freshman Elexis Holmes nearly doubled the Lady Pirate scoring herself with 18 points, including a pair of three pointers. La’Miyah Brown also canned two treys on the way to 10 points.
Madill also picked up four points apiece from E’Niyah Holmes, Ireland Groeber and Chloe Miller. Luci Douglas chipped in three and Arlette Andrade had two.
Boys
Sammy Duran exploded for 18 points, including four second half three pointers to rally the Wildcats to their second win of the season.
Things did not start well for Madill, trailing 18-7 through one quarter before narrowing the margin to nine at 31-22 at intermission.
That’s when the Wildcats caught fire in a 17-point third period with Duran pouring in 13 of that total including three treys while closing to within 40-39 heading into the final stanza.
Duran tallied five more in thefourthwithRyanAnderson coming alive with six to give Madill the lead and eventually the victory.
The lone Wildcat in double figures was Duran, who finished with a season-high 24 points, but they got critical contributions across the board. Anderson notched nine, Cash Cooper and Gilberto Grimaldo tossed in eight each with Jagger Rogers rounding out the scoring with five points.
