Wrestlers from all over the southern part of the state converged on Madill last week for the Annual Thrill in Madill wrestling extravaganza.
High school action was held on Saturday with the Wildcats placing sixth and the Lady Wildcats ending third in the 17-team standings. Comanche claimedtheboyschampionship with Harrah taking home the girls title.
Junior high action had 19 teams participating in the all day and night affair with the Wildcat boys placing seventh while the girls were second. Marlow captured the boys title with Little Axe winning the girls championship.
Both the high school teams and junior high are slated to be on the road Friday with a long road trek to Henryetta for a 6 p.m. start in their next outings.
In the varsity boys’ division, junior Triston Barnes took top honors at 120 pounds to lead the way for the Wildcats.
Christian Robledo and Colton Sandefure took third in their respective weight divisions, Darian Perez and Saul Martinez added fourth place efforts as well.
On the girls’ side, Madill had a trio of weight division champions in Andie Wallace, Morgan Wallis and Allie Barthel. Runner-up showings came from Kaia Henry, Mekayla Westbrook and Anglena Mendiola.
The trio of Madelyn Ritchie, MadisonBarrowandKarmony Pearson all ended with fourth place finishes.
Eight Madill junior high boys ended in placing slots keyedbyachampionshipshowing from Rodrigo Cruces.
Isaac McGee and Karl King recorded runner-up finishes, Teo Barrientos took third in his weight division with Yael Corona,DamienTrejo,Canyon Phillips and Xavier Diaz all placing fourth.
The Lady Wildcats sported a pair of junior high champions in Karmony Pearson and Mekayla Westbrook. Yatziri FloresandVictoriaRoblesboth ended up fourth.
