Fresh off another district title and trip to the state quarterfinals, the Kingston Redskin football team was rewarded with a host of All District selections, including seven top award winners.
Due to district regulations only seniors could be recognized in voting, but the Redskins still managed a plethora of prestigious honors, including Coaching Staff of the Year after finishing with a 10-2 record.
Lineman Isaac Hahn put together a dominant performance throughout the season on both sides of the line of scrimmage and was recognized as the league Most Valuable Player for his efforts.
Hahn helped pave the way for an offensive unit that averaged 378 yards per contest while piling up 2,241 yards on the ground and another 2,114 through the air.
“Isaac was such a great player that affected both sides of the ball,” head coach Brad Hill commented. “He was a really good offensive lineman and a great rush end. He was like a coach on the field. Big and strong. You don’t see too many linemen named MVP, but he made that big of an impact on both sides of the ball. All the coaches in the district recognized it.
“We had a lot of senior skill kids that got awards and a lot of great guys that had outstanding statistical seasons that weren’t seniors.”
Sam Walker was the league coaches’ pick for Offensive Players of the Year, posting a team high 17.6 per carry on limited carries with 40 percent of those going for touchdowns. He also snagged 13 passes for 215 yards and three more scores. Defensively, he also chipped in 39 tackles, three interceptions and three sacks, chipping in another three touchdowns on that side of the ball.
District Athlete of the Year honors went to Cash Walker with the versatile stalwart accounting for 175 yards on 17 rushing attempts (10.3 yards per carry) with one score. He also had 22 receptions for 352 yards and three touchdowns while pitching in 25 tackles and three interceptions in the defensive secondary.
Eli Oliger led the squad with 507 yards on 32 catches and scored seven times, earning the league’s Receiver of the Year recognition. He also notched 36 tackles, four interceptions and added a team-high pass break ups.
Senior Brady Greene piled up 54 tackles and was named the district Defensive End of the Year. Brayden Ellisor added Safety of the Year honors with a strong campaign of 74 tackles, two picks and four pass break ups. Blake Wise was also selected as Cornerback of the Year, contributing 23 tackles along with five passes broken up.
Much like Hahn, Jacoby Jackson was a key cog on the offensive front for Kingston and was pegged for first-team All-District recognition as well.
Honorable mention league selections included offensive lineman Jace Thomas, defensive backs Landon Kirk and Cash Davis, running back/defensive back Dalton Beshirs, receiver/ defensive back Hayden Gravitt and wide receiver Jonathan Endicott.
“We had a lot of really good players with 14 kids making All-District. It was just an outstanding group of seniors. We had a ton of guys carry the ball and a ton that caught the ball, so nobody had huge numbers because we spread the ball around so much. Any of them could have been MVP. They played selflessly and just to win. Everybody was invested. We were able to spread it all around because of the talent of those kids. We had so many weapons that it made us so hard to defend.”
