Exie Lee Davis Grice, 80, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2024 in Kingston, Okla. She was born on January 9, 1944 in Marietta, Okla. to Lester Arthur and Exie Pauline Henderson Davis. Exie graduated from Marietta High School in 1962. She then attended Oklahoma State University and obtained a degree in Home Economics.

Exie gave birth to her daughter, Grace, in1971inArdmore,Okla.andthenmoved to Seattle, Wash. to work for Pacific Northwest Bell. Exie loved spoiling her grandkids, taking them on trips to the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, Medieval Times, Space Center Houston, the USS Texas, Sea World and the Crater of Diamonds State Park.

Exie was a huge fan of Elvis, in 2005, she took a family trip to Graceland, saw the King’s many outfits and stayed in the Heartbreak Hotel. Exie had a heart for all animals. Throughout her life, she raised many cats, several mice, and a chicken named Valero. Exie was a small-town girl who was fortunate enough to explore the breadth and depth that life had to offer.

She was a true artist, able to craft and create in all mediums including sculpting, sewing, photography, ceramics, and her personal favorite, painting. Exie spent many hours admiring art in museums, critiquing impressionism and praising the post-impressionists. Exie relished the work of Van Gough, especially The Potato Eaters (1885). She had the great pleasure of visiting the Netherlands in 2019 with her grandson, Justin Kershner, to see the work of the Dutch painter in person. In addition, during this trip, they sawtheZundertFlowerParade,thefamouswindmills,and visited every zoo in the Netherlands. Seven years to the day before her passing, Exie’s family watched with pride as she walked across the stage at Southeastern Oklahoma State University obtaining her second bachelor’s degree, at the age of 73, in her life’s passion, Art.

Exie was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Grace Beach and husband Chris of Marietta, Okla.; brother, Terry Davis and wife Debbie of Dallas, Texas; niece, Megan Adams; nephew, Brett Davis; grandchildren, Steffon Kershner, Justin Kershner, Trysta Kershner, Tyler Beach and Lexy Beach; great grand-children, Logan Kershner, Maddie Kershner,CamdenBeach,andAxleBeach;cousin,Carolyn Dees; and special friend Tommy Lee.

Graveside services to celebrate Exie’s life will be Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 12:00 p.m., at the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta with Rev. Stephen Davis officiating. Services have been entrusted to Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Marietta.
