Although the Madill High School wrestling team came up short in dual action with long-time rival Plainview, the Wildcats’ junior high group was victorious in its outing against the Indians.
In varsity competition, Coach Andrew Pettigrew’s group fell 51-21 but it was a 48-32 triumph in the junior dual with several strong outings.
The Wildcats are slated to close out the pre-holiday portion of the schedule on Thursday with their home opener against Durant.
TristonBarnesledtheway for Madill in the varsity dual, posting a pinfall victory in his weight class, as did Christian Robledo. Aroddy Camacho scored a 7-4 decision to add three points for the Wildcats with Gustavo Hernandez garnering a forfeit win. Darian Perez also pitched in a fall triumph in an exhibition match.
Madill’s junior high had a wealth of wins as Teo Barrientos, Ranger Willis and Canyon Phillips were forfeit victors. Meanwhile Layne Dorer, Xavier Quintanilla, Isaac McGee, Enrique Martinez and Alex Sarabia all tacked on six points to the scoring total with fall victories in each of their respective weight divisions.
Exhibition winners in the junior high matches were Rodrigo Cruces and Marcos Martinez, each of which notched pinfall decisions.
