As the anticipation for the basketball season builds at Madill High School, senior LucianaDouglassstandsout. Withhermultifacetedtalents and a heart full of gratitude, Douglassisreadytomakeher final year memorable both on and off the court.

She has been a dedicated athlete for over two and a half years. Her commitment to sports is evident as she balances basketball with cheer, softball, slow pitch, track and archery. Looking ahead, Douglass said she has her sights set on playing college basketball or potentially joining the Air Force.

Douglass said making friends is one of her core school memories.

“The new friends and the bonds I have with them have made my high school experience unforgettable,” she shared.

She said her gratitude extends to her family, who have been her pillars of support throughout her journey.

“Thank you all for the last two years, and thank you for everything you both have done for me,” she said, referring to her coaches and mentors.

She said her parents, Vanessa Aldama and Tory Douglass, along with Dolores and Luciano Aldama, have played an instrumental role in her life.

“Thank you, Mom, for going above and beyond for me, and thank you, Dad, for guiding me through everything and helping me with what I know now,” she expressed.

A significant source of inspiration for Luciana comes from her siblings.

“Watching my siblings growinguphasinspiredmein sports,” she shared. However, itisherfatherwhoignitedher passion for athletics.

As she gears up forDouglass offered a piece of advice to younger classmates: “Doyou,dowhatyouthink is best for yourself, and don’t let anyone try to stop or tell you any different,” she said. “Be your own person and live life as it goes.”
