Brian Brister is the Superintendent at Kingston Public School and has been for the past eight years. He Oklahoma roots run deep because he grew up in the Caney area andgraduatedfromColeman High School in 1992.
He began his career after graduating from South Eastern University in 1997. From there, he earned degrees in Social Studies Education and a Masters in School Administration. Brister started off his career as a teacher in Social Studies, Geography and History.
Brister spent four years teaching and coaching at Millcreek Schools before coming to Kingston. He then devotednearlyadecadeasthe basketballcoachbeforetaking on the roll as Athletic Director and assistant high school principal. While maintaining his title as Athletic Director, he moved up again becoming the principal at the middle school. Then, from there, he moved into his current position.
He said he has devoted his time to continually improving the school campus and providing the students with the latest and greatest to propel them into their future. He also said he is excited for more educational opportunities.
“Thecampushasimproved so much over the last 20 years,” said Brister. “I am very proud of our community and appreciate them getting out to vote.”
Brister married his high school sweetheart, Amanda, who alongside him has built a careerineducationforherself. This love for education has beenpassedfromtheeldersin their families who shared the samepassionforchildrenand learning down to them. This inspired Brister and his wife to carry on with that legacy.
Brister said Kingston holds a special place in his heart.
“Kingston is a special place, we love it here,” said Brister. “We have a great staff, the school board, and our community mean the most to us. I enjoy hearing the life stories of former students and feeling good that we make a difference for kids.”
Brister and his wife, Amanda raised two Kingston boys. Conner was Class of 2019 and Brady was Class of 2022. These two boys have been devoted to education and athletics throughout their schooling.
Both boys took the state championshipsinsportssuch as baseball and basketball. They both made their way to college by following the footsteps of the long line of educational success and guidance.
The Bristers enjoy playing golf, fishing, hunting and are big OU football fans. They also take family vacations together soaking up quality time in places like Branson, Golf Shores and taking cruises.
