The Doghouse at Ole Red Tishomingo hosted the KISS tribute band Rock and Roll Over on March 2. It was the second appearance for the nationwide touring band from the Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Rock and Roll o\\Over had their first show in 2010 and within seven months, took their show to Chicago, Cleveland and Cincinnati House of Blues. The KISS cover band consists of four band members like the original KISS band with the comic book-style characters wearing costumes and face make-up.

Lead singer and guitarist Christopher Paul plays the role of Paul Stanley and is considered the backbone of the group. He is a natural born entertainer who has studied KISS and in general Paul Stanley since an early age.

Bass guitarist DD Castiel, aka Gene Simmons, has manyyearsofmusicindustry recordings and has played in many tribute bands. He is a very realistic and dramatic entertainer.

Ace Frehley's counterpart and lead guitarist Allen Shelleyshowsoffhissmoking guitar skills captivate the audience as KISS’s Spaceman. Finally, Jeff Gerhard, drummer and vocalist, represents Peter Criss.

Paul said Gerhard stands out from previous drummers in the band.

“Jeff is the hardest hitting drummer that has played with the group,” he said.

Their stage presence and show were almost identical to the original band, that included flames, pyroglyphics, fake blood and costumes. Each member dressed the part.

PaulTheStarchild,Castiel The Demon, Shelley The Space Ace and Gerhardt The Catman. Mid-way through the performance a torch was lit to accompany the song “Fire”. The shooting flames sparked up the audience. Throughout the show, sparklers erupted on each side of the stage to coincide with the song being sung.

The group’s enthusiasm and dramatic portrayal of the original KISS band was phenomenal. Castile’s solo performance of Hells Bells, a crowd favorite, was show stopping as well as the other solo’s each member executed.

Rock and Roll Over has a full schedule for the rest of the year, so look at their social media to follow. They are looking forward to the opening day of the Texas Rangers. They will be at Texas Live March 30 after the game. If one enjoys rock and roll music this is the band to see.
