The annual Marshall County Fair was held September 5 through 7. This year’s event, jovially titled “Barn in the USA”, brought the community together for a weekend of fun, entertainment and some delicious competitions. The Sheriff’s Departmentwasapartofthis exciting event on Thursday and Friday selling hamburgers to raise money for new handheld firearms.
Marshall County Sheriff Donald Yow said there were six from the Sheriff’s Department who assisted in cooking and selling the burgers. The MCSO sold enough burgers to purchase a firearm for a Reserve Police Officer.
Yow said the reserve deputies work special events and roughly eight hours per month. He also said they loved attending the county fair to get the chance to visit with community members and being involved in the event.
Yow said he looks forward to next year’s county fair and they plan on making pulled pork sandwiches.
Prize winning ribbons filled the community center in Madill. Quilting, canning, art, crafts of all kinds, school projects from the kids, hats, horticulture, ice cream, cupcake contests, and so much more. Prize winning ribbons filled the tables showing just how talented the people of Marshall County really are. The time and effort everyone put into their projects didn’t go unnoticed.
The variety of animals were in attendance and they all brought their A game for entertainment and competitions. At this fur and feather filled fair you could be a part of poultry and rabbit judging and a livestock show with showmanship contest. The weekend event was also host to a pet parade that all could enjoy.
The Little Miss and Mr. Marshall County competition was held on Thursday the 5th. All the entries were bringing their best and brightest smiles on stage. The Queen crown went to the beautiful Little Miss Allie Sutherland. With an arm full of flowers and smiling from ear to ear the crowd could easily see how excited she was. The King crown went to Little Mr. Wyatt Stewart, holding his staff and dancing around at the big news he showed his happiness for the victory as well. A big round of applause went to all those adorable children on stage who love their county and the competition.
