Laura Sue Rushing, 62 of Madill, Okla. went home to our Heavenly Father on August 16, 2024, at her home in Madill. She was born on July 5, 1962, in Madill to the late Linda Lou Murray and John D. Rushing.
Laura attended school in Madill and later went on to attend Southern Oklahoma Vo Tech in Ardmore, Okla. where she received her nursing Degree and was pinned with the Florence Nightingale award for the graduating nursing class of 1991. Throughout her career she worked as an LPN for several local hospitals, staffing agencies, home health companies
and even did private care nursing, but labor and delivery was her greatest love.
She was given several colorful names by her dearest friendsandfamilytoinclude“Momma”“Dr.Quinn”“LaLa” "Lucy" and "Nana". She enjoyed fishing every chance she got as well as going to the casino, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She had the kindest, most giving heart and never wanted anyone to feel “without”, “alone” or “unaccepted”. She embodied unconditional love and forgiveness for all. Throughout her life, she offered shelter, love and compassion to many friends and family members regardless of the circumstances. She said “Everyone deserves a home and should feel loved”… and she truly meant it.
Laura loved to laugh, have fun and was a known prankster. She was truly a “big kid”. She specialized in Halloween costumes for herself and her close friends and celebrated this at her friends annual Halloween party. She had a big imagination and loved putting together or helping to make the perfect costume. She had an extensive shoe collection and loved all types of shoes; she passed this trait onto her youngest grandson, Wyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Linda Murray and John D. Rushing; brother, John Mark Rushing; sister-in-law, Marlia Mann.
Laura is survived by her loving and caring partner of 30 years, Sherry Hill, and her devoted fur-baby “Sissy”; daughter, Lyndi Hearon and wife Jeri of Yukon, Okla.; grandchildren, Dylan, Barrett, Rylie, Wyler, Hayden and Chloe; brothers, Alan Rushing and wife Anita of Madill, Okla., David Weaver of Madill, Okla., John Stacy Rushing and wife Missy of Enville, Okla.; sisters; Patsy Pikulin and husband Eddie of Oklahoma City, Okla., Deanna “Lyn” Rushing of Santa Cruz, Calif.; nieces, Misty, Callie, Summer, Angel, Shelbie; nephews, Destry, Bowen, Montana, Justin, Joshua, and Aiden; best friend, Tridinda Fuston of Madill.
Visitation was held Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a family hour from 6:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. at Watts Funeral Home in Madill, Okla.
The funeral service was. at 2:00 pm., Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Watts Memorial Chapel in Madill, Okla. It was officiated by Randy Kendrix. Interment was at the Oakland Cemetery in Oakland, Okla. Casket Bearers were Roger Morrison, Alan Williford, Destry Rushing , Jeremie Pennington, Josh Mann and Bowen Rushing.
