After a pair of shutout defeats to start the season, the Madill Lady Wildcat softball team finally got the offense untracked with a solid effort against perennial power Chickasha before coming up short in a 3-2 verdict.
Still trying to get their legs under them, Coach Jared Hayes’ troops were on the short end of 9-0 loss to Dickson and 10-0 setback to powerhouse Kingfisher in the first game of the Pauls Valley Festival.
The Lady Wildcats have a busy slate on the schedule this week with the Sulphur tournament to close the week after 4A-4 league outings against Pauls Valley and Sulphur.
Offense was hard to come by in the opening two defeats as Madill managed just four hits and two against Kingfisher as they also were slowed by 12 total errors on the defensive side.
Jade Soto had a big game against Dickson, accounting for three of the hits, while Brooklyn Washington added the other. Dahlia Marris and Ireland Groeber had singles versus Kingfisher.
The Lady Wildcats shored up the defense and even outhit Chickashabya6-3margin in the final game of the week, riding a solid pitching effort from Marris as she yielded onlyoneearnedrunandthree hits over four innings of work.
Marris tallied two hits, includingadouble,andWashington also tossed in two hits. Lauren Campbell notched a single and drove in one as Soto added the other Lady Wildcat hit.
