Patman as its founding pastor on Sunday, August 4. Rev. Patman grew up in El Reno, Okla.and graduated from high school there in 1961. He attended the University of Oklahoma, where he received his bachelor’s degree in 1966. He then travelled to Dubuque, Iowa for his seminary trainingattheUniversityofDubuque Theological Seminary.
Patman served early on as a staff member of Young Life Campaign, an evangelistic youth ministry to high schoolers, in Oklahoma City. Patman was an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church and shepherded UM churches in Piedmont, Norman (McFarlin associate), Stroud, Tuttle, Healdton and Ardmore (First associate).
At Ardmore First, Patman helped initiate a world-wide mission outreach. He also directed the evangelism ministry and introduced Ardmore First to the Walk to Emmaus. In addition, Patman worked helped direct the Celebrate Recovery ministry.
In retirement, served part-time with the Lake Country District of the Oklahoma Conference of The United Methodist Church as a mentor-encourager to pastors and spouses. He also served as an interim minister in atUMchurchesinMarietta,Thackerville, Madill, Kingston (Lighthouse), Tishomingo and Healdton.
Patman recently transferred his ministerial credentials to the Global Methodist Church. Shortly thereafter, he was appointed to serve at New Hope Methodist.
New Hope Methodist Church is currently meeting in its temporary home in the DeArman Funeral Home at 305 East Main Street in Tishomingo. Sunday school is at 9:00 a.m. Fellowship with coffee and donuts is at 10:00 a.m. Worship is in the chapel at 10:15 a.m. All are invited to come worship.
