MC Lunch & Learn

The Chickasaw Country Marketing Association held its first Lunch and Learn of the year on Tuesday at the OSU extension Building in Madill. The topic for the July 23 meeting was an introduction to Canva, a graphic design platform.

Anyone who was interested inlearningtheprogram was invited to join. The speaker was Marla Herndon, Coordinator with REI WBC of Oklahoma, which is a non-profit women’s business center dedicated to helping women who own small businesses. Herndontalkedabout how important events like these are to the community.

“I think it is really important andI’mhappythatSummer [Bryant] has taken the initiative to do this,' Herndon said. “Chickasaw Country Marketing Association and anyone who wants to be involved in this is important for business as they work through their growth plan and to work on expanding their marketing and expanding their reach. All of those things. I am happy to be a part of it.”

Herndon said she encourages anyone in the community to attend the Lunch and Learn as a way to help small businesses have access to information and education.

“When people come to our training or our shops, what we like to hear is ‘I learned one thing, one really good thing’ that makes it worth it to them and worth it to us to work to put these on for people, as long as we are helping educate small business owners and entrepreneurs that’s us doing our job and we are happy to do that,” Herndon said.

The Director of Marshall County Chamber of Commerce, Kalynne Johnson, saidthatshefoundtheLunch and Learn very informative.

“It was great and it was something I needed to learn, so this kind of gives me what I need to get going and I feel more comfortable with it.”

SummerBryantofChickasaw Country Marketing Association said she is looking forward to the next event in September which will cover Social Media Advertising topics.

“Some future topics that will be covered are social media advertising, Quickbooks, how to shoot (photographs) for advertising and products whether it is for a restaurant, you sell coffee, or clothing, a variety of things.,” Bryant said about future topics of interest.

The CCMA said they are hoping that the Lunch and Learn events will be able to cover all variety of topics for small business education to help promote more growth in the surrounding counties, not just in Marshall County.
