Venture Robotics hosts Drone Certification Course

Venture Robotics, a company that focuses on all things robotics, held a Drone Certification Course at the MarshallCountyCommunity Center on July 14. The class ran from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. witha30-minutelunchbreak.

The class was led by Dann Schantz of DS Pro Drone TrainingandServices.Itcombined classroom instruction with hands-on application and offered students a solid understanding of the regulations, procedures and best practices necessary to operate a drone safely and legally for commercial purposes.

The class is a two-part class, with the second class being held on July 21. Students must have attended the first class to participate in the second class. Once students complete the FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot License Preparation Course, they will have the knowledge to take the FAA part 107 knowledge test. Students will also know how to register their drones and sign up for the actual test.

The instructor Schantz is a FAA certified pilot who has led multiple trainings for the West Texas area. He has a degree in Industrial Technology and is finishing a master’s in STEM. He has over five years of experience in Drone piloting.

Venture Robotics said they plan on hosting more Drone Certification Courses. There is a tentative class scheduled at Grayson College in the fall.
