Fatality wrecks

A Madill resident was injured in a Sunday crash at State Highway 78 and Fort McCulloch Road about four miles northwest of Durant, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Twenty-one-year-old Alivia Robbins was taken by Bryan County EMS to TexomaMedicalCenterafter the 3:13 p.m. crash. She was listed in stable condition with injuries to upper extremities atthetimeoftheOHPreport.

According to OHP, the crash happened when a a 16-year-oldDurantgirldrove aNissanSentrafromadriveway to make a left turn and was struck by Robbins’ Ford Fiesta that was traveling eastbound on Highway 78. The teen was not injured and failure to yield to oncoming traffic was cited in the report as the cause of the accident.

Both drivers wore seat belts. Troopers Brycen Collins and Bobby Davis investigated the accident. The DurantFireDepartmentand Bryan County EMS assisted at the scene.

There were two fatality accidents that happened in the past few weeks. On June 29, Stefan Severini, a 55-year-old male from Mead waskilledwhenhestoppedto give aid to some victims of a car accident. He and his wife stopped to assist a family after they happened upon a wreck. His wife Mary Davis said Severini heard a crying baby and went to check on the baby.

That was when Keon Christie, a 23-year-old male from Madill hit and killed Severini. News reports stated that Christie was arrested and booked for Second-Degree Homicide, DUI and Driving Left of Center. However, online records show that he’s only facing charges for DUI.

Another fatality occurred when Whitesboro man was killed on July 6 in Mead. Reports show that Paul Crabtree, a 21-year-old from Whitesboro was driving on US 70 and drove in the path of Emilee Janicke, a 26-yearold from Kansas while she was turning. Crabtree died at the hospital.
