Phyllis Ann Murphy

Phyllis Ann (Benjamin) Murphy, age 82, of Oklahoma City, Okla. passed away on May 2, 2021 in Oklahoma City. She was born July 6, 1938 to Sampson Simeon and Lura (Blair) Benjamin in Wardville, Okla.

She was a graduate of Haskell Institute, now Haskell Indian Nations University. She received a Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

She was a social worker and was a Southern Baptist. She enjoyed riding bicycles and playing dominoes. She loved all animals, especially cats. Phyllis liked sports and especially basketball. She was also a square dancer.

She is survived by her sons; Sammy Dean Brook and wife Rachel of Greenville, NC, Buddy Brian Brook and wife Sharon of Florence, Ala., Victor Nils Brook and wife Kathy of Houston, Texas, daughter Ruby Renee Murphy of Oklahoma City, Okla., grandchildren; Adam Brook and Amanda Brooks of Wilmington, NC, Alan Brook and wife Tara of Wilmington, NC, Sydney Blair Brook of Florence, Ala., Hunter Brook of Houston, Texas, Audrey Brook of Houston, Texas, Olivia Brook of Houston, Texas, Averie Brook of Houston, Texas. BJ Brewer and wife Jenna of Florence, Ala., great grandchildren; Walker Brewer of Florence, Ala., Liza Leigh Brewer of Florence, Ala, Abbey Brewer of Florence, Ala., Addison Brook of Wilmington, NC, and Caleb Brook of Wilmington, NC, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Sampson S. and Lura (Blair) Benjamin, one son Stacy Murphy, sisters; Ruby Williams and Lillian Benjamin, and one brother Buddy Blair Benjamin.

Her service will be Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Brown’s Funeral Home in Coalgate, Okla. Internment will be at the Wardville Cemetery.

The honorary casketbearers will be Adam Brook, Alan Brook, Hunter Brook, BJ Brewer, Sydney Brook, Audrey Brook, Olivia Brook and Averie Brook.
