When former Kingston Police Chief Kasey Cox was fired last mont,h a roar of outrage was heard across Marshall County. The Town Council dismissed Cox, stating insubordination, with one hold out to keep him in his position.
Since then, multiple residents have taken to social media to express feelings of concern and disagreement with the decision.
There was a petition created by someone that was more than concerned and outraged,KarynCox,Kasey’s mom. There is something to be said about a mom wanting to protect our children, and that does not stop once they have reached adulthood.
Mrs. Cox proved said she is fighting for her son to be reinstated.
“I want it clear, I am the one doing this. I started it to get Kasey reinstated,” Mrs. Cox said.
She said she began the petition to draw awareness to the dismissal of her son. Mrs. Cox said she wanted to let it be known that she did this on her own as she feels she has been “wrongly accused of collaborating with others on all of this'.
“Several have offered to help and I graciously accepted their offers of driving to homes in and out of town as well as to businesses for signatures,” she said.
Mrs. Cox added that her only goal was to get her son reinstated as she feels he was wrongly fired. Mrs. Cox said that she estimated that there were close to 250 signatures on the petition.
She is hoping that the issue will be added to June's town council meeting as she is requesting in writing to have it added.
“Last week, I called to get on the agenda for the June council meeting,' Mrs. Cox said. 'I was told I had to get my request to the city clerk in writing for approval. I also left copies for each council member and the town's lawyer.”
Even Mrs. Cox said she gave copies to the city, she was not added to the agenda
