During the May Madill City Council meeting, City Manager James Fullingim announced that the light at Francis and 1st Streets was no longer working properly. The Grid Smart system within the light was no longer functioning and that the whole light would need to be replacedwitharadarsystem.
The new light, however, would need to be purchased usingmoniesfromnextyear's budget; which will not be set until June's City Council meeting.
Per the city council's decision during the May meeting, Fullingim stated he had already ordered the light but it will not be in until next year. In the meantime, residents are left with a flashing red light in all four directions.
Anotheroptionwouldbeto have the intersection turned into a four way stop with stop signs. Fullingim said the best option for the light is to have all four directions flashing red. This will be the situation with the intersection until the new light can be installed sometime in 2025.
