Marshall County has had three fatality wrecks in a short span. On October 3, there was a fatality wreck at A Street and Soldier Creek Road.
Christi Daube, a 47-year-old female from Ardmore was driving a 2019 E-Z-Go golf cart southbound on A Street. Chase Cain, a 37-year-old male from Kingston was driving a 2020 Ford Expedition west on Soldier Creek Road.
According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Ashley Hampton, Daube failed to stop at the stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by Cain. Daube was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
On October 5, there was a fatality wreck at the intersection of Highway 32 and Highway 70F. Laura Cook, a 70-year-old female from Whitesboro, Texas was traveling south on State Highway 70F in a 2019 Chevrolet Traverse, and Jason Howze, a 50-year-old male from Keota was going east on State Highway 70F in a 2015 Peterbilt semi.
OHP Trooper Colby Murray reported that even though Laura Cook stopped at the flashing red light, she failed to yield while crossing into the intersection. She was struck by Howze.
Even though both drivers were unharmed, Dennis Cook, Laura Cook’s 73-year-old passenger from Whitesboro, Texas was pronounced deceased at AllianceHealth in Madill.
The third wreck occurred on August 29. However, the fatality occurred on October 1. Ryan Penland, a 37-year-old male from Sherman, Texas and Bruce Lilly, a 62-year-old male from Kingston were traveling west on Little Road on a Polaris Razor ATV. For an unknown reason, Penland departed the roadway, drove off the embankment and struck a tree. Lilly was ejected off of the ATV and transported to Baylor Scott and White in McKinney, Texas. He was admitted in critical condition. Unfortunately, Lilly succumbed to his injuries on October 1.
