Tired of doing the same oldthingonSaturdaynights? Looking for something exciting and different? Look no further.WhenTheDoghouse in Tishomingo is combined with J’s Dueling Pianos, boring is definitely not a word that will be on any guest’s lips.
The Doghouse hosted J’s Dueling Pianos on July 28 to a full house. The duo consists of Jeremy Harris and Bryce Pilling, and neither musician came up short on talent.
Both musicians can play the piano, apparently. However, they also show the crowd their multiple other talents. Harris can sing, and play the piano, drums and harmonica. Pilling can sing, play the piano and drums. He can also beat box, which is making music with the mouth.
Every song they sing is upbeat and gets the crowd’s toes tapping and dancing in their seats. The duo also challenges the crowd to put in song requests, so they can show the crowd their vast knowledge of music.
Having guests pick their songs wasn’t the only way the crowd was able to participate. The musicians encouraged everybody to sing along to the songs they played. Even ifthecrowdwasn’tsureabout the lyrics, Pilling would walk themthroughthewords, with humor of course.
Harris and Pilling did songs like “Piano Man” and by Billy Joel, “Bennie and the Jets” by Elton John. They even performed “Hollaback Girl” by Gwen Stefani.
Anybody celebrating a birthday during their show is in for an even bigger treat. There were few birthdays in the building Saturday night.
The musicians called up Margaret, who was celebrating her 67 th birthday. Harris had her sit behind him on his piano bench and be his “harmonica holder.” The song and humor are surely something Margaret will probably never forget.
This show was a reschedule from their original show date. J’s Dueling Pianos was slotted to perform on April 1, but they were not able to perform. What guests assumed wasanAprilFool’sDayprank was a legitimate issue when a transformer blew and the venue lost all power right before the musicians were set to take the stage.
Not only were guests able to watch an enjoyable show, The Doghouse provided pulled pork sandwiches, with potato salad and Cole Slaw for anybody attending the show.
Foranybodywhomightbe looking for something different, keep an eye on the lineup at The Doghouse. Even if J’s Dueling Pianos might not be set to for a return, yet, The Doghouse continues to book entertaining musicians.
