Worst Christmas presents

A Vacuum cleaner, partially used gift cards, regifted candles, out of date technology, or last years fruit cake. None of these gift’s sound too appealing, but can they actually be referred to as the worst Christmas presents to be given or received?

Like most of us, during this festive time of gift giving, we all long for the gift to be not only surprising but uplifting as well. I personally have not only received the dreaded vacuum, but I requested said vacuum on more than one occasion.

Those things can be pretty pricy. I was once even gifted an oversized utility tub full of household cleaning products, small tools, and other items to set up my own apartment.

I did not turn my nose up at that gift, as some of my other peers did in disappointment. So, what does it take to qualify a gift as bad or unwanted?

Is it the gift itself? What abouthomemadegifts? Those are usually made with the thought and the time given to make said homemade gift.

Sweaters, scarves, cakes, cookies, and Christmas décor are always welcome in my opinion. Then there is the taboo practice of regifting.

Do we dare regift the candle that maybe wasn’t your fragrance of choice. The gift card that was never used from a local restaurant or business.

Those can have pitfalls like fees for inactivity, activation, or service. So that $50 gift card could be considerably less than you my know.

Another item that has become more and more popular are lottery tickets. Those scratch off tickets are perfect for last minute gifts and they fit into the Christmas card envelopes ever so nicely.

The thought of the monetary gains can be super exciting, that is until you realize that you have maybe won a couple of bucks. Then you are left with the overwhelming feeling of being duped.

Because let’s be honest, winning big on a scratch off lottery ticket is a 1 in 100,000 chance. May the odds be ever in your favor.

So is there a bad gift, in reality. We are told from the time we are children, that there are not bad gifts as it is the thought that counts.

Then I would have to say the worst gift would be no gift at all. No one took the time to think about you.

In the end that is all we want; to be thought of. To know that we matter in some small way.

To know that we are appreciated. To know that someone does care.

Or just maybe the worst gift is a CPap machine. I mean, how rude!
