Sewage Treatment Plant still waiting for sewer press

It has been a little more than a month since the October 16 Madill City Council meeting where the issue regarding the smell on the north side of Madill was addressed. Currently, the city’s sewage treatment plant is still waiting for the new sewer press to be delivered and installed.

This upgrade is not a mandatory upgrade to the current system, however it will update the system by eliminating the use of the drying beds at the treatment plant. Madill City Manager James Fullingim said the upgrade will be beneficial for the city.

“That is not a mandatory upgrade, it’s just something that will help us with the disposal of our waste,” Fullinghim said. “Yes ESRO does have the DAFT system installed and is currently working on getting all the chemicalsadjustedproperly.”

Fullinghim said hopefully the new system will address the issues from the waste being washed into the sewage system at the ESRO food processing plant in Madill.

“I have high hopes that their new system will eliminate most of the smell that has been haunting us,” Fullinghim said.

With the new upgrades and systems in place, the residents in Madill have high hopes as well that the smell will no longer haunt them.
