Two people are facing charges due to a few lapses in judgement on December 7. At approximately 10:30 p.m., Madill Officer JT Moore was dispatched to the Madill Inn for “weird activity” in one of the rooms. Moore said that when he arrived on scene, things were pretty tense.
“Upon my arrival, when I got out of my patrol car, I could hear screaming from inside room [redacted]. I then knocked on the door and announced it was the police.”
Moore stated a man’s voice instructed him that the door was unlocked and to come in. The officer walked in to a surprising scene. A man, later identified as Cory Lowe, was holding a female down on the floor. With the assistance of other officers, Moore was able to get control of the situation. After one officer detained Lowe, Moore was able to detain the female, identified as Selena Hudgins.
Moore said the poor decisions began almost immediately. “Mrs. Hudgins was saying she was going to hit me,” Moore stated in his report. Fortunately, Moore instructed Hudgins that he was the police and hitting him would not be a good decision. She backed down.
Officer Moore inquired as to why her and Lowe were fighting, and she simply said it was “because they had gotten drunk.” Hudgins was looking for her ID, and was unsteady on her feet, so they had her sit back down. Apparently, Hudgins was feeling the after effects of drinking, because that was when she asked Moore if he could take the bottle of alcohol with him when he left. Moore poured the bottle down the drain.
After Moore emptied the alcohol bottles in the sink, Sergeant Beshirs entered the room and asked Hudgins if she was “turning tricks.” Hudgins, of course, denied having sex for money, and Beshirs said he was informed that she “had been to the room two doors down turning tricks.”
Moore and Beshirs decided to get to the bottom of things, and went to the room next door, where Gregory McMillian was residing. Mc-Millian claimed to have just returned from the casino, and that Hudgins had been over earlier. However, he denied that they had sex. He claimed that he gave Hudgins and Lowe food and cigarettes because they could not afford to get their own
After speaking with Mc-Millian, the officers spoke with Lowe to get his account of what had transpired. Lowe told officers that he was holding Hudgins down because she had “hit him in his mouth and that he didn’t want her to hit him anymore.” Officers then released Lowe out of the rear of the patrol car. Officers then went inside to speak with Hudgins, and poor judgement seemed to be taking over again. She was acting extremely irritated and belligerent toward Sergeant Adams. After a few warnings, Adams attempted to place Hudgins under arrest. That was when she began pulling away and resisting. After cuffing Hudgins, and escorting her to the patrol car, she kicked an officer in the stomach and head butted another. The officers seat belted Hudgins in the back so she could no longer hurt anybody, including herself.
Once Hudgins was detained, officers returned to speak with Lowe, where he showed officers the text messages on his phone – evidence of Hudgins messaging McMillian about money and sex. McMilian was detained and read his Miranda Rights. He then waived his rights and told Adams about the text messages between him and Hudgins. He said he had paid Hudgins $60 twice to have sex with him, and she had been over to his room 45 minutes prior to the officers’ arrival.
Even though Hudgins allegedly hit Lowe in the mouth and had sex for money, he refused to fill out a statement or “any kind of forms that might get Mrs. Hudgins in anymore trouble.” The officers took pictures of Lowe’s face and neck.
Hudgins is incarcerated in the Marshall County Jail facing Assault on an Officer, Resisting Arrest, Engaging in Prostitution within 1000 feet of a Church, Domestic Abuse/ Assault and Battery, and Threatening Acts of Violence. Hudgins has a prior conviction for Trespassing.
McMillian is facing Engaging in Prostitution within 1000 feet of a Church. He has one prior for a DUI.
