The saying for mullets is, “business in the front, party in the back,” and there are a few Oklahomans who are vying for the title of Best Mullet in the Nation. The 2024 USA Mullet Championship is in full swing, and a handful of Oklahoma children and an adult are still in the running for the title.
The category for kids ages zero to four had three Oklahoma boys who made it to round two. Cameron Nutt is from Norman, Clay Hassenplug is from Sapulpa and Ransom Wilson is from Durant. The category for kids aged five to seven has Easton Buchanan from Dickson, Eli Cooper from Bixby, Knox Harrell from Colbert and Nolan Bryant from Durant.
The teen category has Logan Lease from Gore and JimWhiddonfromOklahoma City is in the adult category.
The winner not only earns the title of top mullet in the country, they also win $5,000 for the children and adults category, The teenager category winner gets $1,000. Other prizes for the winners are a custom championship belt and a GoPro HERO 12 Black Action camera.
The competition not only highlights the amazing mullets around the country, it also raises money to help military veterans. Voters can make donations through the voting site to Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, aprogramthatprovides critically wounded combat veterans with the opportunity to live comfortably and independently in adapted homes. In 2023, the competition raised approximately $220,000 for the foundation.
