He stepped in full of ideas to bring in a few changes, experience, and positivity. Shaw grew up in Barnsdall, Okla. - a small rural town outside of Bartlesville.
He graduated high school and went on to graduate from Tahlequah and Northeastern Oklahoma state college with a master’s degree in physical education and a secondary degree in Social Studies.
He played basketball in high school and college for two legendary coaches. His high school coach had been the coach there for 64 years. In college, he was coached by the Jack Dobbins.
Shaw said his goals are to bring positivity to the programs. He stated things are so much different now than when he attended school and college. “The world is a much more harsh place and many of today’s youth are struggling with so many things.”
He said he wants to build a mentorship and a relationship with the students, athletes and community to let the kids know “we are all in this together and here for them”. Making sure each one that passes his way knows that they matter.
Shaw is married to Lydia Faulkner Shaw, and they have resided in Madill for many years. Lydia is employed at Dr. Marten’s office in Madill.
His plans are to grow the Winter Classic and athletic programs. With the assistance of his assistant Debbi Allen, he hopes to achieve this goal and many others.
He has coached many other places and said he never dreamed he would one day be the director right here in Marshall County. However, he was so glad that he landed here. He also said he loved this community, the school and was so looking forward to a big future for the athletic department.
