The New Hope Baptist Church will be hosting an event featuring Kevin Spencer, renowned southern gospel singer on August 1 at 7:00 p.m.

Spencer originally began singing gospel music with his family “The Spencers” when he was three years old. In 1992, he broke off from the family group and branched out on his own. He is now known as Kevin Spencer and Friends. Spencer has attested to multiple lives that were changed through gospel music. He has a fan base all over the country, even the world.

He said one of his greatest moments are when something he has written or performed touches a fan’s life. Spencer also owns and operates the Some Downing Music Company International, Inc. It is a recording company that includes various forms of southern gospel music.

Spencer recently released a new tribute CD to his favorite singer, Rusty Goodman, who passed away in 1990. Each performance includes a special tribute to Spencer’s hero, including songs from Remembering Rusty. Songs like Who Am I, Leavin’ on My Mind, Look for Me, and I wouldn’t Take Nothing for My Journey Now.

The visiting artist plans to record Volume II and III in the future, spotlighting more of Goodman’s greatest hits.

Spencer has recorded some of his own songs and watched them become number one singles. Hits like The Blood is Still There, If the Rapture was Yesterday, So Much To thank Him For, Flow Through Me Holy Spirit, and God Bless America Again.

The gospel artist does over 260 concerts per year all across the United States, Canada, and other exotic destinations. He has been on various Christian television stations such as Gospel Music Television and Gaither Gospel Series.

The New Hope Baptist Church invites everybody to go to 1209 Highway 70E in Kingston to witness the artist perform the music that changed his life, and pointed him to Christianity, and continues to keep him on the road to Jesus.
