It has been 18 months since the COVID-19 virus emerged from Wuhan, China, and the mainstream media is only just now beginning to acknowledge the fact that President Trump was right to place blame on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
For over a year, Washington Democrats and the mainstream media have been downplaying the lab leak theory and tossing blame left and right without regard for the truth. Here is what we know for sure: there is mounting evidence that suggests this coronavirus originated in a Chinese lab and the CCP deliberately covered it up. As a result, China’s lies could have cost millions of lives.
We owe it to the American people to find answers on the origins of a disease that has killed 600,000 people in the United States and millions more around the world. So far, the Biden Administration has refused to place any real blame on China, even shutting down the Trump Administration’s investigation aimed at exposing China’s culpability.
The mainstream media has gone along with the Biden Administration at every turn. In early March 2020, President Trump blamed China for the global health crisis and demanded an investigation into China’s role in spreading and hiding data about the deadly disease. President Trump consistently reiterated the fact that there is evidence to suggest the virus originated in a Chinese laboratory. He was also correct in stating, “the World Health Organization (WHO) should be ashamed of themselves because they are like the public relations agency for China.”
These facts are clear: the CCP continues to mislead the world about the origins of COVID-19. They have led propaganda campaigns to pass blame for COVID-19 and silenced and censored whistleblowers from inside their country. The WHO has also failed to thoroughly investigate the virus’ origin, even allowing Beijing to dictate the terms of their inquiry. This is inexcusable, and we are committed to getting to the bottom of the CCP’s lies and deception.
Last week, I joined over 200 of my Republican colleagues in sending a letter to Speaker Pelosi demanding a full investigation into the origins of COVID-19. It is clear that the Biden Administration and the WHO are incapable of being objective on this issue. Congress must act to ensure that the CCP is held accountable for their role in this pandemic and ensure that no health crisis of this magnitude ever happens again.
