Miller Files Candidacy for State Representative District 49

Will be on the Ballot for Carter, Love, and Parts of Marshall Counties

Former Prosecutor and Judge, Richard Miller, filed his candidacy on the Republican ballot to fill the open seat for House District 49, which is being vacated due to term limits by State Rep. Tommy Hardin. Miller said he is honored for the opportunity to fill Hardin’s shoes.

“I am thankful for the strong conservative leadership that Representative Hardin has shown for our local communities during his tenure of service and am honored to have the opportunity to continue fulfilling his commitment to ensuring that our towns have a strong voice at the capitol moving forward.”

With no democrat filing for the seat, the election will be determined by Republican voters on June 28, 2022.

Miller’s experience shows his love of serving - from first serving as a prosecutor in Tishomingo, to being recommended by the Judicial Nominating Commission and serving elected terms as Marshall County Judge.

Miller served at the District Attorney’s office under Craig Ladd and served the past five years as an activeretired judge by appointment of the Oklahoma Supreme Court. He also served as a municipal judge for Madill and Tishomingo.

After retiring from the bench, but with public service still in his heart, Miller answered the call to serve the region by filing for election to State Representative.

Miller’s wife, Terri, has worked for decades as a local schoolteacher. She currently teaches second grade at Madill and taught third grade in Marietta. The two are both well-known community partners districtwide and from Marietta to Madill.
