Meet the school offi cial: Salcedo, MPS Superintendent

Victor Salcedo is the Superintendent atMadillPublic School for the second year and counting. He said he and his wife Joy have fallen in love with Madill. These two high school sweethearts have raised two children of their own. They have taught and guided countless more over the course of their lives, both having extensive experience in education and sharing a passion for children has brought them true fulfillment.

Salcedo grew up in northwest Arkansas. From there, he moved to Oklahoma to attend North Eastern University where he graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Spanish and a minor in PE. Later, life led him to pursue a Master’s degree in School Administration from East Central University.

Salcedo has devoted his life to building his career in education. He said his passion is teaching children and guiding them through their early educational journeys.

He began teaching and coaching students in 1998 at Eufaula Elementary, later becoming the principal. From there, after nearly a decade, he moved to Vian, Okla. Salcedo and his family spent another decade in Vian enjoying the small-town life with a student population of around 800.

He was the superintendent at the Vian High School and the athletic director. Madill students and residents alike welcomed Salcedo into a larger student population of 1800 and he said he is proud to have retained that small town feel regardless of the growth.

“Madill is very welcoming,” said Salcedo. “The community, school staff, and the boardareallgreat.Theypush me to grow and are helping me to be better.”

He said the most fulfilling part of his career is making a difference.

“I want to make a difference with the kids and the entire community,” he said. “Building lifelong relationships you can maintain is the most important to me.”
