A Marshall County dispatcher was fired for stepping over a line on August 14. According to Marshall County Sheriff Donald Yow, he was notified about an open radio from the communicationscenterwhere a dispatcher allegedly used profanity and disrespected a caller.
When Yow was notified of the incident, he was in the field searching for suspects and preparing for a meeting. Yow then went to the communications center to speak with the dispatcher and fire her; effective immediately.
Yow said in a statement that he will not tolerate anybody from the sheriff's officetodisrespectpeoplewho are calling in for assistance.
Yow said he 'understands that in the communications center, it can become very stressful, however, this is not the way to handle this.'
'For the Sheriff's Office to maintain public trust, we must hold ourselves to a higher standard,' Yow continued, 'and we will.'
